Non-geographic numbers

There are several types of non-geographic numbers; toll-free, UIFN or national/business numbers. They all have very different number formats, characteristics, and pricing. It depends on your wants and needs (and local legislation), which one is the best fit.

Toll-free numbers are also known as freephone numbers.  These are the only customer service numbers that are completely free to call for your customers from both fixed and mobile lines. In most countries, these numbers start with (0)800, making them very easy to recognize.

uifn universal freephone numbers

UIFN numbers

UIFN stands for Universal International Freephone Numbers. This means you can use the same customer service number for several countries. They are free to call and start with 00800, making them appear very similar to regular tollfree numbers.

Business/national numbers

This type of non-geographic number has the same calling costs as regular geographic numbers. But the number formats and the names used to indicate them vary per country. Some examples are business numbers and national numbers.
